Summer ferry service starts Sunday

The Washington State Department of Transportation Ferries Division (WSF) will begin operating its summer 2010 sailing schedule on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 20, with additional vessels, sailings and service hours on the more popular tourism routes.
The increased service levels will help locals and tourists alike take summer trips to the San Juan Islands, Whidbey Island, Vashon Island, and the Olympic Peninsula. The summer schedule runs through Sept. 25.

Rep. Morris wants to raise millions from out of state for ferry and bridge construction

From Rep. Jeff Morris's office: A proposal introduced Wednesday by State Representative and Speaker Pro Tem Jeff Morris could raise close to $70 million per year for much-needed ferries in Puget Sound and a new bridge spanning the Columbia River between Vancouver and Portland.

Ferry Elwa returns to San Juan Island service

The Washington State Department of Transportation Ferries Division (WSF) has completed investigation and maintenance of the drive motor on the 144-auto ferry Elwha , and the vessel will return to service on the Anacortes/San Juan Islands route on Thursday, April 9.

The 90-auto Sealth will restore capacity on the inter-island route by relieving the 34-auto Hiyu .
