Two separate fires keep ASJI Red Cross busy

Two separate fires in Anacortes left two families out on the street and in need of Red Cross assistance.

On 24th Street a 3-year-old child saved the day when he noticed the bed he and his mom were sleeping on was on fire, he woke his mom and they escaped unharmed.

A second fire in Skyline early in the morning left a family of 4 out
in the cold as the Anacortes Fire Department faught the blaze.

Orcas Island fire prompts Red Cross response

A fire that destroyed a house on Orcas Island on Monday left one occupant with nothing but the clothes on his back. The Anacortes/San Juan Island Red Cross responded and is working with the disaster victim to get him back on his feet.

This is the third fire response in a month and the fourth for the year.
