Kris Lytton (D), who is currently President of the Anacortes School Board, has announced she is running to replace Dave Quall (D-Mount Vernon), who earlier this week announced he will not seek another term.
Trial has been set for July 19 for the 41-year-old man suspected of killing Fidalgo Island dog trainer T. Mark Stover. Michiel Glen Oakes, of Kennewick, is charged with first-degree murder in the disappearance of Stover, whose body has never been found. Oakes is on house arrest on $2.5 million bond. Stover disappeared last October and is presumed dead.
Dick Troberg, who does these same workshops for the Sea Grant programs in Seattle and Port Townsend, will be in Anacortes. The Marine Corrosion Workshop is planned for Saturday, February 27th, and the Marine Electrical Wiring Workshop is planned for Saturday, March 20th. Class will meet at Emerald Marine Carpentry in Anacortes.
The first race in the America's Cup was postponed Wednesday, this time because of high waves. The first race attempt last Monday was postponed because of wind conditions.
